The Government of India has launched the E Shram Card 2.0 to provide government services and benefits to the citizens of India who are unorganized workers including construction workers, migrant workers, gig and platform workers, street vendors, domestic workers, agriculture workers, etc. With the help of the e-Shram card 2.0, the unorganized workers of India are eligible to receive benefits like healthcare facilities and education for their children. What is E Shram Card 2.0?
The Government of India has introduced the E Shram Card 2.0 to expand benefits for citizens working in the unorganized sector. The E Shram Card 2.0 is designed to provide unorganized workers with access to various government welfare schemes. The Ministry of Labour and Employment oversees the implementation of this program, aiming to support the welfare of unorganized sector workers across India. Indian citizens aged 18 to 59 who wish to benefit from these schemes can apply for the E Shram Card 2.0.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must be permanent residents of India.
- Applicants should be between 16 to 59 years of age.
- Applicants must belong to the unorganized workers' category.
- Applicants should not be members of EPFO, ESIC, or NPS (government-funded).
Benefits of E Shram Card 2.0
Under the E Shram Card 2.0, eligible unorganized workers in India can access various benefits, including healthcare support and educational assistance for their children. The government has introduced 12 new schemes under this initiative to enhance worker support.
Key benefits include a pension of up to INR 3,000 per month for cardholders after they reach 60 years of age. Additionally, beneficiaries are entitled to death insurance of INR 2,00,000 and financial aid of INR 1,00,000 in case of partial disability.
Each beneficiary will also receive a unique 12-digit Universal Account Number (UAN) to help them track their E Shram Card 2.0 status and benefits online.
